On the day of the Lord Mayor’s Show you might think it would be difficult to get in to central London by car, find a parking space and set up tripod, camera and laptop opposite one of London’s most famous land marks. It wasn’t. The evening was clear so there wasn’t a very wide range of colours but the lighting on the dome looks fantastic in HD and those Buses don’t stop coming, not bad for a Sunday. @xirfan
The only thing in a time lapse video that’s better than amazingly lit skies and architecture is hundreds of people flitting about like laser bolts in a Star Wars battle scene. I’m not going to state a preference for the originals or the prequels, they all have their merits.
We set up for this shoot just next the Millennium Bridge and were treated to an amazing number of tourists and jogging locals who are now immortalised for a fraction of a second each in our video.
See if you can spot a strange man who is in the video for a whole second.
We are definitely going to do more videos with people in them, maybe during the day. If you have suggestions for areas that would produce an amazing result please tweet me. @xirfan
The photos for this shoot were taken in the Isle of Dogs not from across the river as some people have said. There is a nice little private estate where you can take great photos with the Towers in the background as long as you’re quiet! It’s interesting to watch the lights of entire floors switch on and off as the cleaners go through them, even on a Sunday evening. Dear bankers, please give them a living wage, they deserve it!
In full screen mode you can see a star or planet curve in to the pyramid roof of 1 Canada Square before dropping behind the building.
Once again, great skies and clouds along with frozen noses and fingers. @xirfan
I wasn’t around for this shoot but I wouldn’t have thought overlooking a fly-over could produce a wonderfully memorising video, did @fxylxy just get lucky? You have to watch this video a couple of times at least, the way the buildings light up, the effect this has on the clouds while the sky remains the same and the multi coloured lights of Pan Peninsula changing on the hour is beautiful. @xirfan
